here is my version:
AT THE VERY BEGINNING (of evolution) I am a dumb stupid piece of DNA that knows
nothing,and understands nothing, and cares about nothing. There are some things
that stochastically turn me on and off both from inside and outside the cell,
and I do not care what they do to me. The amazing thing that might have happen
in this case is that the population will self-organize........ HOWEVER STUPID I
AM IF I CATCH SOMETHING GOOD I KEEP IT. for me good means if I could improve my
overall efficiency, for example if I could become a smart little gene, sitting
in there, and knowing when to behave stochastically, and when
deterministically. When I say deterministically, in fact it means increasing
the probability of doing the right thing at the right time....
