The June 4 issue of Scienec has several articles related to this web site.

*On p. 1635-1639, Metzger and Krasnow review "Genetic Control of Branching Morphogenesis." The straightforward applicability of fractal geometry to biology is a well-established fact. Now, they describe research showing that FGF (fibroblast growth factor) controls development of real fractals by its periodic expression. The overall scheme is rather complex, but looks nothing like stochastic development. Drs. Till, Kupiec, Michaelson, any comments you may have about that?

* On p.1677-1679, there is an article "The fourth dimension of life: fractal geometry and allometric scaling of organisms." Sounds intriguing, but I tried to read the article and could not get at all what the heck are the authors trying to say. Can anyone take a look and explain?

* On p.1627-1628, there is a book review "Patterns in Nature-no assembly required." There is no direct statement, but the review implies that selection is not the only force behind the pattern formation.
