I believe that the Angel's message (click below to view the original) is clearly about WHY, not about "what it all is or even how it all works." Why stochastic versus deterministic, why not something else? Why gravitational laws? Why time and space? Science claims that it explains things. It does only in a sense "how it works or how things are related," but every scientific explanation brings new WHYs. It is a row of endless whys if we are only concerned with mechanisms of things. This thought but itself brings the WHY of a new quality: why can't we escape from this endless chain of whys? Is there a purpose to all this things? This is, as Dov pointed, where a scientist become a believer. You either do or you do not believe in purpose. There is no scientific approach that could answer whether this Universe has a purpose, because why science? It is a matter of faith, even in those of you who are atheists.
I do anticipate angry replies from those of you guys who are atheists, but hold you breath, I agree with everything you say up front.
